MODERNIZATION

Being the active participant of the armament global market OAO "Motovilikhinskiye zavody" look after and operatively reacts on changes of the tendencies of market development, and also features and tactics of conducting of battle actions in modern conditions.

Accumulated information is realized not only at designing and manufacturing of priority developments, but also at modernization of before made fighting equipment.

At present OAO "Motovilikhinskiye zavody" has a lot of programs on modernization concerning the most effective and widespread in the world systems, manufactured at the Perm enterprise.

The carried out modernization of MLRS allows to give them following opportunities, urgent in conditions of modern battle:

  • firing from unprepared position (in survey and geodesic relation) at the expense of autonomous determination of longitudinal axis's directional corner of a FV's tube cluster and determination of own coordinates;
  • visual representation on the computer's display of graphic information for guiding of FV's tube cluster, map of district with the indication of its location, destination and route of movement;
  • increase of system's surviveability at the expense of reduction of staying time of on a fighting position;
  • guiding of FV's tube cluster without exit of a crew from a cabin and without use of laying points;
  • the increase of comfort for operator - layer's work, especially at adverse meteorological conditions and at night time;
  • increase of FV's autonomy at the expense of adding to it navigation and survey functions to carry out quick change of firing positions;
  • independent movement after firing to the place of assembly.

122-mm MLRS "Grad"122-mm MLRS "Grad". Directions of modernization

  • Installation in the fighting vehicle of automated guidance and fire control system (AGFCS), which provides:
    • semi-automatic guidance of FV's tube cluster without exit of a crew from the cabin (without use of aiming adaptations);
    • firing from unprepared position (in survey and geodesic relation) at the expense of autonomous determination of longitudinal axis's directional corner of a FV's tube cluster and determination of own coordinates;
    • visual representation on the computer's display of graphic information for guiding of FV's tube cluster, map of district with the indication of its location, destination and route of movement;
    • decrease of time for FV's readiness from the moment of receiving of target's coordinates till firing in 2-3 times and, as a consequence of it;
    • increase of system's surviveability at the expense of reduction of staying time at the fighting position;
    • decrease of crew up to 3 men.
  • Installation in the FV launch preparation equipment (LPE) of new rockets, that provides:
    • distance data input to the rocket's fuse;
    • rocket launch.
  • Realization of revisions providing an opportunity of new rocket projectiles' use with the range of fire up to 40 km.
  • Replacement of BM -21 chassis with the petrol engine on the chassis with the diesel engine.

Besides above-stated, the design op-portunities of OAO "MZ" allow to carry out all complex of the specified works on modernizati-on of MLRS "Grad" and on its foreign analogues "RM 70" (Slovakia), "APRA 40" (Romania) etc.

220-mm MLRS "Uragan"220-mm MLRS "Uragan" Directions of modernization

  • Replacement of the petrol engine on diesel at FV and TLV;
  • Replacement the chassis as a whole for FV and TLV;
  • Equipment of FV by the automated guidance and fire control system "ADFCS".

300-mm MLRS "Smerch". Directions of modernization

  • Installation in FV of combat control and communication equipment (CCCE) instead of an existing regular radio station. CCCE provides:
    • Automated, high-speed reception and transfer of command-signal and operatively tactical information;
    • Protection of communication against the non-authorized access;
    • 300-mm MLRS "Smerch" Visual display on panel and storage in memory of the operative information (fire-mission settings , flight programs, executive commands);
    • Internal telephone communication;
    • Internal circular telephone communication;
    • Bilateral external telephone communica-tion with CSV by a radio station R 163-50U;
    • Bilateral external telephone communication with CSV by two wire line;
    • Bilateral external telephone communication with CSV by radio station from the remote telephone device;
    • Information and technical compatibility in structure of AFCC "Vivaryi" or "Slepok".
  • Installation in FV of automated guidance and fire control system (AGFCS), which provides:

  • Installation of CCCE and AGFCS with use of the common computer. Thus the complete automation of data's reception process, realization of necessary calculations, input of data and commands, commands installations, autonomous survey, firing preparation are provided.
  • Installation of communication facility in TLV providing compatibility with AFCC "Vivariy" and "Slepok".
  • Completing of the complex by the mechanized tube cleaning device directing with the help of TLV, which allow to reduce considerably labour intensiveness during FV's service.
  • 130-mm a towed gun M-46Realization of revisions providing an opportunity of new rocket projectiles' use with the range of fire up to 90 km.
  • Installation of independent conditioning system in FV providing preservation of a resource of the chassis' engine and creation of comfortable conditions for crew.

  • Introduction of semi-automatic breech mechanism and rammer to rum the shell;
  • Superposition of 155-mm calibre barrel for ammunition of the NATO standard;
  • Introduction of automated control guiding system with the use of angle measuring systems, computer and displays.

122-mm SPG 2S1 "Gvozdika" in a part

  • Replacements of out-of-date 122-mm gun 2A31 on modern rifled 120-mm 2A80, allowing to fire by the increased destructive power shells, by all kinds of 120-mm mortar rounds of the Soviet/Russian and foreign manufacture, 120-mm high precision guided shells. The modernized canon 2S1M, armed by semi-automatic rifled gun 2A80, is capable to deliver aimed direct and indirect fire without preliminary preparation of the fire position.
  • Installation of the automated elevation and traverse laying control system;
  • Installation of automatic survey and orientation system;
  • Satellite signals reception and initial orientation equipment.

122-mm SPG 2S1 "Gvozdika"After modernization the efficiency of SPG's combat application grows not less than in 3 times for the account of:

  • Increase of aimed firing rate from 4 ... 5 rds./min up to 7 ... 9 rds./min (fixed round, automatic realignment);
  • Increase of ammunition destructive power up to 2 times;
  • Decrease of minimum nonricocheting firing range from 4,04 km up to 1,5 km with HE FRAG projectiles and up to 0,42 with mortar rounds;
  • Use of Kitolov-2 guided shells;
  • Use of the rounds with Balansir shaped charge fragmentation bomblet projectiles with electronic time blasting fuse;
  • Improvement of firing mode (barrel cooling, availability of barrel overheat indicator, elimination of gas pollution);
  • Improvement of conditions for the crew;
  • Reduction preparation time for the first shot;
  • Ensuring of code telecommunication with future-oriented control facilities.

152-mm artillery systems

  • Modernization of any 152-mm artillery systems of the Soviet/Russian manufacture in the way of their adaptation under unite 155-mm calibre of NATO countries.

Artillery fire control vehicles for the 1V12, 1V12-1, 1V12M, 1V12M-1 complexes. The works on modernization are conducted in the part

  • Replacement of out-of-date means of reconnaissance, survey, communication on modern devices of navigation and data transfer.

Tanks (artillery part)

Tank T-62 (115 mm gun 2A20 (U5TS)).

  • Mounting of 120 mm gun for NATO standard ammunition.
  • Modernization provides obtaining of gun's external ballistic characteristics of main NATO tanks and increasing of effectiveness on armour penetration and accuracy at range of indirect fire.

Tank T-72 (125 mm gun 2A26 and 2A46).

  • 1variant of modernization:
    • replacement of 2A46 on a gun with the 120mm barrel for NATO standard ammunition includes conducting of TDW (test design works), necessitated by testing of gun's systems with new ammunition and creating of firing table.

The offer directed on creation of armament complex, corresponded to progressive decisions of Russia and NATO countries. External ballistic characteristics, armour penetration and accuracy of fire are increasing considerably.

  • 2 variant of modernization:
    • replacement on 125mm gun 2A46M. In this case the minimum volume of works on joining of the gun with tank combat part is provided.

Changes on gun, ammunition and fire control system were made as the result of Scientific Engineering Test Design Works in the recent years.
