Self-propelled howitzer 2S1 “Gvozdika” is adopted by Land forces of Russian army since 1970.

Howitzer 2S1 is air transportable and can be transported in cargo cabs of middle military-transport aircrafts.

Internal telephone communication equipment, radio station and fire-extinguishing means are the part of SPH. Howitzer is capable to deliver direct and indirect fire.

Howitzer can fire by all types of ammunition of towed howitzer D30: rounds with fragmentation, HE fragmentation, HEAT, smoke, candle projectiles and also projectiles with arrow-shaped mortal bomblets.
