ÎÀÎ of Special machine-building and metallurgy "Motovilikhinskiye zavody" under aegis of FSUE Rosoboronexport has took part in the 6-th International exhibition of armament and military equipment "IDEX 2003", which has passed 16-20 of March, 2003 in Abu-Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This exhibition is the largest at the Middle East and in this year were presented 33 national pavilions and companies from more than 55 countries of the world.

During the exhibition the stand of OAO “MZ” was visited by 15 foreign delegations from countries of Europe and Middle East, and also a lot of specialists from foreign companies dealing with production of different artillery systems.

It is necessary to mark stable interest to the most perspective for today types of the armament - 300-mm 9À52-2Ò MLRS "Smerch" on the "Tatra" chassis equipped with automated guidance & fire control system and autonomous air conditioning system, and also to the 120-mm automated self-propelled gun 2S31 "Vena". Almost all foreign specialists visited the stand of ÎÀÎ "MZ" have recognized MLRS "Smerch" on the "Tatra" chassis as the best existing system of multiple launch fire in the world, and in comparison with self-propelled artillery guns of such type as 2S31 "Vena", there is no analogs to this SPG. The foreign specialists especially have marked successful combination of fighting compartment and BMP-3 chassis, already recommended itself on "excellent" in many countries of the world, but now possibility of installation of fighting compartment on other types of the chassis is considered.
Modernization programs of before supplied rocket-artillery armament excited the heightened interest also. The special attention was rendered to already realized projects:
1. Equipping of BM 21 (2B17) "Grad" (which one is supplied to armies of more than 50 states of the world) with automated guidance & fire control system (AGFCS) and launch preparation equipment (LPE).
2. Equipping of 9À52-2 MLRS "Smerch" with AGFCS and autonomous air conditioning system, that is especially actual during battle operations in conditions of desert, tropics and subtropics.
3. Possibility of installation of fighting compartment SPG 2S31 «Vena» on the chassis of the customer.

In the whole, participation in this exhibition has acknowledged the demand on Motovilikha’s military equipment on the world market of armament and has allowed to reveal the basic tendencies of further development of enterprise’s military & technical direction.
